Chiefs 2024 Super Bowl parade, rally: Free shuttles available, transit and parking (2024)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs are back-to-back Super Bowl champions afterwinning Super Bowl LVIII vs the San Francisco 49ers, and now it’s time to start planning for a victory parade and rally.

The paradeis scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday.

“We want to make sure that those who are celebrating, recognizing, enjoying Kansas City, or perhaps spending a few dollars in Kansas City have an opportunity to do so,” Mayor Quinton Lucas said Monday, explaining why the 2024 parade will start an hour earlier than the 2023 one.

The parade route will start at 6th Street and Grand Boulevard, and the Chiefs will head south on Grand toward Union Station. See the full route here.

The rally is scheduled to begin at approximately 12:45 p.m. in front of Union Station and the National WWI Museum and Memorial north lawn. It should last about one hour.

“We do plan to open our streets as soon as possible, so that all of you can enjoy dinner at all of our downtown great restaurants,” KC Sports Commission and Visit KC President & CEO Kathy Nelson said during Monday’s news conference too.

The weather should be much nicer Wednesday than it was for past Super Bowl parades in Kansas City, which will likely lead to larger crowds.

Lucas says estimates showed nearly one million people attended the parade when the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII.

“It will frankly be a lot more comparable to the Royals 2015 celebration, so plan accordingly,” Lucas said of the crowd expectations.

Speaking of past parades, just like last year, Kansas City will have free shuttles and other transit options with parking restricted along the parade route.

Here’s what to know if you’re trying to get downtown.

Free park-and-ride shuttles

KCATA’s free shuttles will run from 7-10:30 a.m. and again from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Here are the five park-and-ride locations:

Buses will drop off and pick-up at Hy-Vee Arena, where passengers will transfer to Ride KC buses heading to 18th and Troost.

Riders must return to the drop-off location for their specific shuttle to get back to their vehicle. Prepare for possible wait times, as much as 45 minutes, at park-and-ride locations.

“When you go to your streetcar or your park and ride location, when you’re done with the rally, go back to that exact same location to get back on the correct bus to get back to your park and ride location,” Nelson said during the news conference Monday.

KC Streetcar

The KC Streetcar will still operate at all stops — except Union Station — on Wednesday.

That morning, riders must exit the streetcar at the southbound Crossroads stop, and northbound riders can board at the Crossroads stop as well.

The Union Station stop will close to passengers at the end of regular service Tuesday.

KC Streetcar service will start at its regular 6 a.m. scheduled time and run at 10-12 minute frequencies until 10:30 a.m. Then the streetcar will be temporarily suspended until the end of the Super Bowl parade and rally.

Streetcar service will resume once the tracks are clear at 20thStreet and PershingRoad.

Parking

There will be parking restrictions along the parade route that go into effect at 11 a.m. Tuesday, when the parade route closes to traffic, and continue until Wednesday night.

Cars parked in temporary no parking zones will be towed at the owner’s expense, according to the city. Drivers also should not park on the interstate and will be towed if they do.

Anyone who’s vehicle is towed can call 816-513-0688 to find the location.

Most parking lots around the parade route will charge, including the National WWI Museum and Memorial, Union Station and Crown Center. Fans should check with those organizations for more details.
